Working Groups

Working Groups are collaborations between the ECC and the DOE with each Working Group having a designated DOE staff.  All ECC members, including Honorary Members, can serve on a working group.

Parent Empowerment

The purpose of the Parent Empowerment Working Group is to gather data, information, suggestions, ideas, and recommendations, and to evaluate best practices to coordinate with DOE to implement as policy necessary to effectively engage and empower parents; and to organize, host, and facilitate professional development "trainings" workshops for Council Members and Parent Leaders, beginning with June's Orientation of the CCEC Election year.

District Planning

The purpose of ECC District Planning Working Group (DPWG) is to advocate for an improved district planning process at all levels and stages, which would provide for an active and meaningful participation and input from parents, as well as the local school communities at large. Members of the DPWG work with Senior Staff from the Office of District Planning to identify and develop best practices which would encourage a locally driven district planning process. The DPWG has been charged by the Chancellor to memorialize such best practices so that they may be integrated into DOE policy and conceivably into the Chancellor’s Regulations.

CCEC Elections

The purpose of the CCEC Elections Working Group is to work with the DOE to review the past elections and develop ways to improve the process for future elections.  The Working Group is also tasked with strategies to implement the changes to the state law.

CCEC Finance

The purpose of the CCEC Finance Working Group is to develop a streamlined process for CCEC member reimbursement, to facilitate the use of CCEC funding to improve CCEC members’ roles as parent leaders, and to develop ways to maximize CCEC funding to improve education for all our students.
